can’t be done without VOIP.

you can’t send or receive cellular signal on the ipod touch nor will any kind of software modification allow you to. it simply doesn’t have the hardware for it. the closest you can get is using voip and a mic attatchment to call out.

Basically, can I signup for a prepaid plan from ATT/Cingular, T-mobile, Verizon/Alltel to use the phone number until I get an office line setup, and then transfer that number to a permanent land line?

It is likely that you can port the number.

The key to number porting is to contact the new service provider and find out if they can port numbers from the phone exchange your want to port your number from.

With number porting, you always have to have an active paid-up account with the number you want to port. Contact the new service provider and start the poring process with them. Once the number is ported, then cancel the old service.

Do not cancel the old service before completing the number porting process. If you do, it cannot be ported once your account with the old service is expired.

I waas wondering the same thing, but as it turns out, it was made for all the different head sets you can buy for the LG Chocolate. You have to buy a special brand, and then you can plug it into where the charger goes and presto!!! I am sorry but unfortunately I don’t know what the brand name is called.
