It has no port on the jack, if you look you will see 3 black rings on a mic headset, 2 on a normal headset

1st gen ipod touch does work with a mic. it works with a mic that plugs into the dock port on the ipod touch my friend uses fring all the time with his the sell them on ebay

they dont work with iphone mic/earphones and thirdparty mic/earphones. but third party just mics work fine.
